More than legal expertise. A trusted part of the community since 1975.

For nearly five decades, Smit Kruger has helped individuals, families, and businesses navigate life's most important decisions and challenges.

What began as a small legal practice in Durbanville has grown into one of the area's longest-standing law firms, built on relationships, trust, and a commitment to serving people well.

We believe good legal service is about more than knowing the law. It's about understanding people, listening carefully, and helping clients move forward with clarity and confidence

Experienced Lawyers

Our Story

Built on trust. Strengthened through generations.

Smit Kruger began in December 1975 when Herman Smit acquired a small legal practice in Durbanville. A few years later, André Kruger joined the firm, laying the foundation for what would become a trusted legal presence in the community.

Over the years, the legal landscape has evolved, communities have grown, and generations of clients have come through our doors.
Through it all, one thing has remained unchanged: our belief that people deserve honest advice, practical solutions, and legal guidance delivered with integrity and care.
Today, we continue that legacy by combining decades of experience with a deeply personal approach to client service.

While laws may change, people will always need someone they can trust.

The principles that guide our work

What We Believe

We listen before we advise.
Every legal matter begins with understanding the context and people involved.

We focus on solutions.

Our role is not to create conflict, but to help resolve it wherever possible and protect what matters most.

We speak with honesty.

Clients can handle good news or bad news. What they shouldn't have to deal with are surprises.

We value relationship.

The strongest outcomes are  built on trust, communication, and understanding.

We treat people with dignity.

We meet clients where they are, without judgement, and with genuine respect for their circumstances.
